Astrology

By David J. Stewart

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” -Philippians 2:5

Astrology is s sin!  The Bible,

God’s Word, has much to say about the spiritual influences upon our life.  2nd Corinthians 10:5 tells us, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.“  Astrology exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, i.e., the Bible.  We are to obey Jesus Christ, i.e., the Word of God.

Heathens love to criticize money-hungry televangelists, and they certainly are; but what about the greedy astrologers who make merchandise of people, and rake in hundreds-of-millions of dollars annually?  Why don’t the heathens criticize such demonic websites as astrology.com, which claims to be the “leading astrology site since 1995!”  The website offers all sorts of demonic psychic readings and unbiblical advice.  In case you aren’t aware, astrology is a false religion–a system of beliefs based upon the planets, sun, moon, and stars.  Astrologers “look to the stars” for the answers to life’s questions and daily spiritual guidance…

Where the planets are at any given time have an enormous effect on your day and on the world’s collective mood. Check out what each of the twelve Sun and Moon Transits portends and then drop by the Planetary Forecast daily to see exactly where the planets are.

Astrology is demonic!  In sharp contrast to what astrologers teach, the Word of God says…. “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:5).  Jesus never looked to the stars, or consulted with astrologers.  When Jesus counseled the two men on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24:27, He didn’t look at any astrological charts.  Rather, we are told that Jesus expounded them with the Word of God… “And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.“  How foolish it is for people today to seek spiritual guidance from God’s creation, instead of from God Himself.  Psalm 119:105 states… “Thy word is A LAMP unto my feet, and a light unto my path.“  Astrologers have absolutely no interest in what the Word of God has to say.

Astrologers Condemned in the Bible

The Bible forbids such witchcraft.  The Old Testament mentions “astrologers,” and condemns them… “Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail. Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them…” (Isaiah 47:12-14).  Astrology is straight from the pits of Hell.  Did you know that modern psychology is based upon demonic astrology?  Listen to what the astrologers have to say for yourself…

Astrology is not a religion or a faith. The modern science of Psychology, which is the realm in which many contemporary people explore their sprits, was born of Astrology.

SOURCE: http://goddess.astrology.com/neptune/astrology.html

This should be clear evidence to you why it is dangerous to seek guidance from psychologists.  They are trained in heathen universities by godless professors who reject Jesus Christ and deny the Word of God.  Psalm 1:1 states, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.“  Christians should not seek counsel from the unsaved world.  If you do, you’ll be receiving counsel from heathens who practice astrology, see no harm in abortion, participate in homosexual parades, and curse the name of God.

I also want to clarify something regarding the above quote… astrology IS A RELIGION!  Ironically, the very author who made the above quote also stated the following…

In Christian religion, if you’re good, you go to heaven or, if not, to hell. Some people interpret these teachings to mean the same thing as Astrology’s view. If you don’t fulfill your mission this time, it’s harder next time (hell); if you do, you are released from that burden (heaven). Buddhist teachings are similar.

SOURCE: http://goddess.astrology.com/neptune/astrology.html

First, no one goes to Heaven because they’re good.  Romans 3:10-12 states that there are no “good” people.  We are all sinners (Romans 3:23).  This is why we need HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS (i.e., Jesus’ righteousness).

Second, the author of the above quote makes a big contradiction.  How can astrology be “a view” and not be a religion?  Religion is defined as: “A strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny.“  Astrology is therefore a religion.  Please read the following words of wisdom from Pastor Brian M. Schwertley…

Since the mid-1960s, there has been an immense increase in the popularity of divination, or fortune telling, among young people all over the globe. Divination is an occult practice where a person foretells future events or gains secret knowledge regarding someone’s personality and life. Popular methods of divination are: astrology, tarot cards, palm reading psychic consultations, mediums and Ouija boards.

Why have these practices (especially astrology) become so popular in our modern “scientific” culture? Because people want personal guidance in their lives. People want to know the future, because knowledge of the future means control of the future. Control of the future, through occult means, is supposed to give a person an advantage over others. This advantage entails power. People want to predestinate their own lives through foreknowledge. A key element in divination is that people seek this knowledge on their own terms. Psychics and those who cast astrology charts generally give out vague good news to their customers. If they gave out bad news, they would go out of business. “This is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord: which say to seers, ‘See not’; and to the prophets, ‘Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits’” (Is. 30:9,10). Therefore, astrologers, psychics and all diviners, by nature, are false prophets.

It is wickedness to seek daily spiritual guidance in one’s life from the alignment of the planets, et cetera, instead of from the Word of God.  Astrology is a form of witchcraft, i.e., seeking spiritual guidance, power, or help from any source other than God.  Jesus plainly stated in John 5:39, “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.“  What wonderful Words… SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES!  Oh! How foolish are so many people today, who are woefully, and willfully, IGNORANT of the Scriptures!  If you want answers to your life, and guidance to lead you, then seek the God of the Bible… “For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death” (Psalm 48:14).

Can Astrology Help Us Make Better Decisions, Clarify Our Thinking, and Help Us Create the Future?

No!  The Devil has duped you if you believe that the planets affect your spiritual life.

Predictive Astrology

The truth about Predictive Astrology

“Astrology is humanity’s oldest and most precise mindmap. It cannot, however, accurately predict events. The planets hold half of the cards; you hold the rest. Choices you make within the astrological environment determine what actually happens to you.

We are free. No rigid, fatalistic prediction can bind us. There is no astrological event so baleful that creativity, intelligence, and honest self-appraisal cannot turn it to constructive uses – and there is no configuration so glorious that selfishness and laziness cannot sour it.

The purpose of modern predictive astrology is to help people make better choices, to clarify the nature of psychological terrain through which they are passing, and to serve as their ally in the endless, unpredictable task of creating the future.”

quote from Steven Forrest – The Changing Sky
(You Already Hold the Key to the Stars – A Practical Guide to the New Predictive Astrology)

I once heard an astrologer say that the planets determine your gifts in life.  In sharp contrast, the Bible states… “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above…” (James 1:17).  1st Corinthians 12:7 and 11 state, “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal… But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.“  1st Corinthians 12:7-11 list various different types of gifts which the Holy Spirit gives to believers.  It is God who gives us all gifts, and who determines what gifts we receive; NOT astrology.

Genesis 1:14,15 state… “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.“  God gave us the sun, moon, and stars to benefit mankind.  The sun warms the earth.  The moon lights the earth at night.  The stars also provide light, and allow ship navigators at sea to determine where they are located (i.e., if they have no fancy modern equipment).  Astronomy is a fascinating science and has many scientific applications.  This is vastly different than the Satanism of astrology…

“Predictive Astrology can give you a hint about what lurks around the corner in your life.  It can also help you plan the right times for your major life decisions.”

SOURCE: http://www.spiritrealm.com/summer/predictive.htm

What a bunch a malarkey!  God never intended for mankind to worship the heavens, or to seek spiritual guidance from them.  To do so is sin.  In 2nd Kings 23:5, king Josiah destroyed the works of evil… “And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.

If you want to make better decisions, and clarify your thinking, then you need to obey the words of Jesus when He said in John 5:39… SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES!  Searching the stars may help a ship navigator lost as sea, but they won’t help a man who is spiritually seeking the truth.  You need God’s Word.

Astrology and Reincarnation

Astrology is a false religion that also teaches reincarnation.  Astrologers believe that “hell” is merely having to repeat this life again…

If you don’t fulfill your mission this time, it’s harder next time (hell); if you do, you are released from that burden (heaven). Buddhist teachings are similar.

SOURCE: http://goddess.astrology.com/neptune/astrology.html

This is demonic teaching!  Astrology is indeed a religion, admittedly similar in beliefs to Buddhism, which also teaches reincarnation.  Millions of people dabble in the Satanic arts of astrology, electional astrology, divination, psychic readings, fortune tellers, Chinese horoscopes, séances’, crystal balls, tarot cards, clairvoyance, necromancy, astral projection, etc.  They ALL have one common denominator–they invoke the spirit of Satan.

Conclusion

If you want to make better decisions, and clarify your thinking, then you need to obey the words of Jesus when He said in John 5:39…. SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES!  There is no way you can know your future here on this earth (Proverb 27:1); BUT, you can certainly know that your name is written in Heaven (Luke 10:20; 1st John 5:13).  As mentioned earlier, searching the stars may help a ship navigator lost as sea, but they won’t help someone who is spiritually seeking the truth.  You need God’s Word.  If you would like to be saved, by receiving Christ as your Savior, then you can KNOW without a doubt that you have a home in Heaven.  Please read, To Him That Worketh Not.

Astrology, Horoscopes & Cross Idols

Part II of II Please read Part I first

In the previous section we exposed the hypocrisy of nominal ‘Christians’ who continue in superstitions and open themselves to demonic influence. Here we discuss the Christian view of fortune telling, stargazing, Tarot cards, and luck. And what God thinks of that ‘Cross in your pocket’.

Suckered into Stargazing

Astrology and horoscopes are another example. Notice how many people claim to be Christian yet are happy to tell you what birth sign they were born under, and regularly read their daily horoscope for ‘amusement’. To venture into this is to flirt with demons. Using Tarot cards is another occult snare.

God mocks those who trust in astrology:

Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you. Surely they are like stubble; the fire will burn them up. They cannot even save themselves from the power of the flame. Holy Bible Is. 47:13-14 NIV

The LORD hates it. Repent, renounce it, get rid of everything associated with it, and you will be blessed.

Good Luck is a Very Bad Habit

Habits are another area where superstition abounds. ‘Essential’ traditional routines inspired by old housewives..

‘Say white rabbit on the first of every month for good luck.’

‘Don’t walk under ladders or it will bring bad luck’.

‘The first person to cross the threshold of your home on New Year’s day must be a tall dark man’.

There are countless local variations, and Africans, and Chinese are masters of this sin. Held in bondage by superstition and fear.

To trust in luck, fate, or fortune is to trust in demons. You are responsible for your own life and actions. Trust in God, in His Word, and His Spirit.

Satan’s Priests of Religion

Religion thrives on superstition: Satan’s counterfeit of Christianity: Catholicism, is wall to wall superstition based, not upon God’s Word, but on Ancient Baal worship of the Babylonians. The Mass is pure idolatry, ‘crossing’ yourself, and praying the rosary are wicked demonic rituals.

Muslims also delight in superstitions and man-made traditions. The entire Hajj experience of journeying to Mecca and performing the traditional rites is entirely demonic. No wonder hundreds die each year in frantic hysterical rituals there.

Hinduism and Buddhism are replete with superstitions. I have many Buddhist and Hindu friends, and they are completely bound by such nonsense. For example, in a modern Asian city a corrupt police chief was exposed. In order to redeem himself he was advised by monks to publicly climb a ladder and pour water over a huge Buddha statue, as an ‘act of penance’.

Launched into Hell

The ‘Christian’ kings and queens of England have no compunction about launching new ships in a naming ceremony that is a thinly disguised satanic ‘blessing’.

Smashing a bottle of Bubbly across the bows pronouncing the ‘blessing’ with all the panache of a tribal shaman:

“I name this ship SS Titanic, may God bless her and all who sail in her!”

You can almost hear demons chuckling. So it goes on.

Have a Clean-Out

Do a self-check, make sure you get rid of all your idols, good luck charms, crosses, medallions, and demonic symbols today. Repent of trusting in fate, destiny, and luck: Put your whole trust in the Living Christ, follow Him wholeheartedly.

Then Almighty God will bless you with peace, joy, and freedom!

Cross Idols
A beautiful Indian woman, deaf from birth, is healed by a miracle, but her deafness returns when she clings to an idol…

Endnote on Christian Cross Idols: Nominal Christians often wear or carry a cross of some description. Plain or with a dead Jesus on it. They naively claim that it is not a charm, talisman, or an idol but ‘The Cross in My Pocket is merely a reminder of Christ’s death for us’.

When you point out that God wants them to destroy it, they flinch, pleading, ‘But my dear departed Granny gave it to me, and made me promise to wear it always!’

It is an idol, and they leave themselves open to bondage and demonic oppression through such junk.

Listen: Christians do not worship the Cross, or revere the Cross. Christians worship The Living Christ who died on a cross, and they follow Him. It is His Sacrifice that is the heart of the Gospel, not the lump of wood we nailed Him to. Satan will use that instrument of torture and death, and
Download.

Astrology doesn’t work

  • It is based on false principles. It might seem to work, but it doesn’t withstand rigorous scientific investigation. The earth seems to be flat and the sun seems to go around the earth, but both are false.
  • The Bible condemns it. If God says in His revealed Word that it is to be avoided, then it can’t possibly be beneficial. Just as Adam and Eve did not benefit by eating from the forbidden tree.

Astrology is sorcery

  • Astrology and sorcery are forbidden by the Bible.
  • It is a religious system which originated from satan.

Astrology has no power to save us from our sins

  • It offers a false hope of salvation through the demonic and occult powers of divination.
  • Many people who put their trust in astrology and horoscopes will end up eternally separated from God in hell because they did not put their faith in Jesus, the only one who can save us from our sins.

Faithful Christians should stay away from astrology and horoscopes

  • Christians shouldn’t read the daily horoscope in newspapers or magazines because it is against the teachings of the Church and the Bible.
  • Christians shouldn’t talk about what sign they are with Christians or non-Christians because it will make people think that astrology is OK and that biblical truth isn’t important.

False teachings of astrology

  • That the position of the planets and stars at the instant you are born determines your personality and even your spiritual disposition.
  • That everything that happens in your life is caused by the position of the planets and stars.
  • That God is not in control of what happens on earth — it is predestined by the position of the planets and stars.

Recently a local television reporter asked me by telephone to state my position on astrology, “as a Christian and as pastor of one of Los Angeles’ well-known churches.”

That conversation reminded me of the necessity for everyone to have a basic understanding of the subject, hence:

1) The Bible not only rejects but condemns astrology.  Isaiah 47:12-15 should be read carefully.  The concluding words of warning regarding the person committed to astrology and related occult practices make clear that confusion is the inevitable lot of such a person and tragic, eternal loss the final price.

2) The supposition that the wisemen (magi), who found the young Christ as the result of astrological pursuits, somehow supports the practice of astrology by reason of their inclusion in the Bible story, is a groundless one.  They only evidence how God meets earnest hearts where they are, and if they honestly are searching for Him, He’ll see that they get there.  But please notice: the whole story in Matthew 2 notes that (a) it took the revelation of the Word of God to finalize their quest and b0 their quest wasn’t final until they found the Son of God.

3) The danger of astrology is beyond a simple, superstitious misuse of time.  Plying the trade of occult practices is to traffic with the demonic.  the “uncanny” concurrence of events, people contacts and trivia in a person’s life, seeming to confirm the forecast of their horoscope, is the direct result of demonic manipulation of people and circumstances.  It isn’t the result of some cosmic influence radiating from the stars, but a hellish one emanating from satan himself, having found but one more way to seal, to kill and to destroy sheep-like humans (John 10).

4) Presumably, everyone reading these words knows the difference between astrology and astronomy: the former is a metaphysical or occult practice; the latter an objective pursuit of physical science.  There is nothing wrong with the study of astronomy: Indeed, there is great inspiration in studying any aspect of God’s creation.  In this realm, the acid test is the willingness of the student to acknowledge God’s handiwork and to overcome the idolatrous systems of human pride which chalk galaxies off to a deity named Chance (Psalm 19:1-6; Romans 1:18-32).

5) Finally, knowledgeable Bible students are aware of the fact and the reason that the name of some star groups occur in the Bible (ex:  Job 9:9; 38:31, 32; Amos 5:8).  These references to constellations are not astrological, but are didactic—that is they are a means of teaching.  It is a fact that before the ancient Babylonian systems of astrology came into vogue, the godly patriarchs linked the spiritual lessons of God’s promised redemption in the minds of their children by using the canvas of the skies (and in a day when pen and paper were unknown).

The way to relate to a person involved in astrology is not to preach against their practice, but to show them the love of Jesus Christ.  It may be that their quest is an honest one, not an avoidance of confronting the reality of the Savior.  If so, when they encounter His live in you, they’ll do what wise men do every time.  They will cease “following stars” and bow before Jesus.
